Assmang, formerly named The Associated Manganese Mines of South Africa Limited, is a South African Company that supply raw material to the world’s steel mills and alloy plants. The company is jointly owned by Assore Limited (50%) and African Rainbow Minerals Limited (50%), and they provide three seperately operated Divisions which include manganese, chrome and iron ore.
The manganese mines Nchwaning and Gloria are located in the Northern Cape, and the ferro-manganese works at Cato Ridge in KwaZulu-Natal.

Assmang, originally named The Associated Manganese Mines of South Africa Limited, is jointly owned by African Rainbow Minerals Limited (50%) and Assore Limited (50%). They currently have three operating Divisions which include manganese, iron ore and chrome.
The Chrome Division consists of the Dwarsrivier chrome mine and the Machadodorp ferrochrome works in Mpumalanga.
The Associated Manganese Mines of South Africa Limited was formed in 1935, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 1936, changed it’s name to Assmang in 2001, and was delisted in 2006.
