African Rainbow Minerals Limited (ARM) owns platinum and coal, as well as ferrous and base metals operations. Through its shareholding in Harmony, it also holds a significant interest in the gold mining sector.

ARM Platinum Mining Operations:

  • Modikwa Platinum Mine – underground mine, 15 kilometres north west of Burgersfort, along the border between the Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces, 41.5% economic stake, 55% economic interest
  • Two Rivers – underground mine, located near the town of Steelpoort, in Mpumalanga,
  • Nkomati Mine – 300 kilometres east of Johannesburg, in the Machadodorp area of the Mpumalanga province, 50:50 joint venture with Norilsk Nickel Africa (Pty) Ltd, unincorporated
  • Kalplats PGM Project – two joint ventures with Platinum Australia (PLA), 330 kilometres west of Johannesburg, in the North West Province
