Chrome Mining | Assmang Chrome Division | South Africa

Assmang, originally named The Associated Manganese Mines of South Africa Limited, is jointly owned by African Rainbow Minerals Limited (50%) and Assore Limited (50%). They currently have three operating Divisions which include manganese, iron ore and chrome.

The Chrome Division consists of the Dwarsrivier chrome mine and the Machadodorp ferrochrome works in Mpumalanga.

The Associated Manganese Mines of South Africa Limited was formed in 1935, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 1936, changed it’s name to Assmang in 2001, and was delisted in 2006.
