Diamond Mining | De Beers Consolidated Mines | Kimberley

The Kimberley mines are located around the mining town of Kimberley, in the Northern Cape, South Africa. In September 2007, the underground operations of De Beers was bought by Petra Diamonds. To retreat the dumps in the area, De Beers opened a combined treatment plant (CTP) in Kimberley in 2004, where around 7.5 million tons of ore a year are treated, producing 1.8 million carats at its peak.
